Self-determination is losing its appeal. People now prefer a tough daddy figure.

It's not just happening in the U.S.; it's a trend that's happening everywhere.  People around the world seem to be losing interest in representative democracy, in doing the heavy lifting of making the big decisions.  Instead, more and more of us are happy to hand things over to a "big daddy," a strong authority figure, to manage everything for us, to give us everything we want, and to keep us safe and happy.  All we have to do is blissfully, lazily follow along.  Or am I misreading this?
